/in Member News /by Neo SerafimidisA trio of portraits from Rusty Weston’s Of the Mission series were selected by Photo Alliance for an exhibition called “Metaphors of Recent Times | A dialogue of the personal, the political and the cultural.” The call for work invited photographers to reflect on themes of our planet, humanity, and societal values. The exhibition, a collaboration with the SF Arts Commision, will be held at SF City Hall from Jan. 16 – June 13, 2025. The opening reception is on Jan 16th at 6p at City Hall.
Anastasia Shubina and Timofey Glinin at Kommunale Galerie Berlin during EMOP Berlin
/in Member News /by Neo SerafimidisThe photography of Anastasia Shubina and Timofey Glinin (Glish Group) are on exhibit in Berlin at the “Parallel Realities” exhibition (details here) at Kommunale Galerie Berlin during EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography.
Originally conceived as a tool to represent reality, photography ultimately gives a fragmented vision of it. Its dynamic ability to both reflect and shape reality places it in an ambiguous position that the exhibition will explore through multiple angles: the role of the photographer as an artist and its freedom to represent and recreate reality, the fabricated narratives embedded in the editing, omitting and selecting processes of image making, the influence of the viewer and the context in which pictures are received, the impact of new visual technologies partly fueled by AI learning, etc.
Jury and curators: Bénédicte Blondeau and Norbert Wiesneth
Exhibition dates: 22 February – 27 April 2025 (More info here)
Opening reception: 21 February 2025 at 6 PM
