Ellen Konar & Steve Goldband exhibit their inkjet print on handmade Kozo paper Arborescence in the Awagami International Mini Print Exhibition at Awagami’s ‘Hall of Awa Japanese Paper Museum’ in Tokushima, Japan. This work was a semi-finalist in the competition, which has predominantly been traditional woodblock, etching and lithograph until last year when digital processes have been welcomed.

Gene Dominique exhibits nine images in a show curated by Geir Jordahl. Resonance: Eleven Artists Respond to H.A.R.D at Seventy-Five; includes diverse artists invited to make artwork in response to the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District’s legacy and influence in their lives and communities.
The exhibition will be on display in the gallery at 1099 E Street, Hayward, CA from September 28 – November 28. Gallery Hours are Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm in the Upstairs Gallery and Monday 5-10 pm, Tuesday & Thursday 10 am-1 pm and by appointment in the Downstairs Gallery.

His series of vertical panoramas won a Portfolio Award in the San Francisco Bay International Photo Show. It was published this week on “Bokeh Bokeh” (an online photo Zine).
“Bokeh” is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of- focus parts of an image produced by a lens. “Bokeh Bokeh” features works from all photographic genres – fine art, documentary, portraiture, street, … focuses (or blurs?) on work that is original, beautiful, startling.

As Oakland and the Bay Area gentrifies and artists and galleries are displaced, graffiti may be one of the most visible and accessible showcases for creativity. This collection of oversize, enlarged images show discarded spray paint cans—the tools of the graffiti artist—collected from abandoned buildings, train tunnels, and back alleys throughout the East Bay.
