Ari Salomon Receives Honorable Mention in SF Camerawork’s FORECAST 2026
Ari Salomon’s project Burn Line has received an Honorable Mention in FORECAST 2026, SF Camerawork’s annual survey exhibition. Honorable Mention work is presented online alongside the exhibition.
The exhibition was juried by photographer Janet Delaney; Omar Farah, Curatorial Assistant at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive; and Jonathan Mark Jackson, Assistant Professor of Photography at UC Santa Cruz.
Burn Line responds to the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. It pairs black-and-white photographs of burned landscapes in Altadena and the Pacific Palisades with Pyrotypes, a process Salomon developed in which photographs contributed by fire survivors are carved into wood and then charred, becoming small black-on-black relief objects. The project was shown as a solo installation at KG+ during , where it received the GOJO+ Award.
