Thanks to you our fundraiser was a terrific success!

At last, we’ve worked through all the details from our recent online fundraiser and are thrilled to report the terrific outcome. From Sept. 17-Oct. 11, we sold 65 photographs altogether, raising $6500! 100% of these funds have now been donated to the African American Art and Culture Complex in San Francisco, to add to the initial donation that the collective itself made back in August.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who made a purchase and hope you enjoy the original artwork from one or more BAPC photographers. We’re truly gratified that sustaining Black creatives in the Bay Area through the AAACC resonated strongly with our audience, and that so many people were so generous in participating with us.

We were very pleased to reach so many like-minded friends in the Bay Area and far beyond. For the record, the 49 individuals who bought photographs in the fundraiser were from 13 states plus the District of Columbia; some bought as many as five prints. All of the photographs were donated by the BAPC artists who made them, as were much of the shipping costs.

To everyone who bought prints in our benefit, a sincere thank you from all of us at BAPC!

  • Below, you can read the email Melorra Green and Melonie Green, the co-Executive Directors of AAACC wrote to us.
  • If you missed out on the opportunity to buy a print, you can donate directly to AAACC through their website or their PayPal link.
  • This fundraiser was only the beginning of our sustained commitment to supporting Bay Area Black artists and the amplification and inclusion of more diverse voices in the Bay Area arts community. We welcome your suggestions and ideas on how BAPC can best be supportive of diverse artists; please reach out to us!

Greetings Bay Area Photographers Collective,

On behalf of the African American Art and Culture Complex we would like to take a moment to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous contribution of $6,500 raised at the fundraiser hosted by your organization. The AAACC truly appreciates your support towards our efforts of serving the Western Addition/Fillmore community, providing affordable space for members of the community, and fostering the talents of local artists.

The African American Art and Culture Complex is a community based, 501 (c)3 arts and cultural organization.  Our mission is to empower our community through Afro-centric artistic and cultural expression, mediums, education, and programming. Your contribution supports events such as our annual Holiday Fair, Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day, and our new online platform.

Our work is dedicated to inspiring children, youth, and families to serve as agents of change and to fostering a commitment to community service and activism. In addition, we encourage, support, and promote the work of intergenerational, aspiring Bay Area artists and strive to develop partnerships with organizations that are similarly committed to our mission.

Thank you again for your kind support!

Best in Arts and Community,

Melonie Green and Melorra Green, Co-Executive Directors
